Arnd Stein (* 1946) is a German psychologist, psychotherapist and author.

Stein studied psychology at the Ruhr University in Bochum, where he gained his doctorate in media psychology and journalism in 1975. During his studies, he began practical work as a child psychologist, initially in an educational counselling centre and since 1972 in his own practice. During his work as a psychotherapist, he also familiarised himself with hypnosis and relaxation techniques.
He completed many years of piano training, developed special relaxation compositions (functional music) on this basis and introduced the resting pulse rhythm of 60 beats per minute (“pulse beat 60”) as a particularly calming rhythmic basis in this music genre. He also developed an autosuggestion technique with the variants he called “deep suggestion” and “active suggestion”.
In 1987, he founded the Verlag für Therapeutische Medien in Iserlohn/Germany, which produces and distributes audio recordings designed by him.
Stein is a licensed psychotherapist and has been known for decades as a psychological consultant for print media and through numerous radio and television programmes. He lives in Iserlohn/Germany. (wikipedia)
