Nick Woodland – Cult Factory Vol.2: Goodburn Clearing House (2011)

FrontCover1London-born Nick Woodland is a product of the British blues-rock scene. Inspired by the likes of Alexis Korner, Eric Clapton, John Mayall and Peter Green, Woodland started out on guitar at age 15. Based in Munich (Germany), he has played his guitar for many bands in rock (Amon Düül II, The Clash), pop (Giorgio Moroder) and jazz (Herbie Mann) and recorded five albums with Germany’s top act Marius Müller-Westernhagen. German Jazz Podium reads: “Woodland’s guitar sounds like Stevie Ray Vaughan come back to life — or like Eric Clapton on speed.” Since the early 90s Woodland has been German singer/musician/poet Ringsgwandl’s “chief guitarist” in uncountable concerts all over Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Says Ringsgwandl: “I know nobody else who plays all kinds of guitars, acoustic and electric, picked or slide, and who is into each and even the most obscure style of the last 80 years, and also plays mandolin, mandola and some other things with strings.”

Still the coolest, best and most versatile rhythm and blues guitarist far and wide. (Süddeutsche Zeitung)
One of the great, a brilliant guitarist (New Germany, Berlin)
A master of blues guitar. Passau Neue Presse
Woodland treated his guitar as if it were the most fragile good at all. (Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung)

And this is one of his brilliant albums … it´s a shame that he´s one of the most underrated musicians in the blues-rock scene … List to “Road” and you´ll know what I mean !
